Bekka Bramlett & friends (Charles, Jon, Bob, Etta and Nick) are performing Sunday night, 12/23 @ 3rd & Lindsley from 8 - 10. It's a Christmas Show airing LIVE on Lightning 100 / WRLT, too.
There's nothin' like some funky, fun, incredible music to get you in the holiday spirit. Bring your family... bring your friends... sit back and let the music lift you up.
Clocky and I will be somewhere near or in Kansas City (on our way home to celebrate the holidays with family and friends) by the time the show starts... so if you go... give Bekka, Charles, Jon, Bob, Etta and Nick some love from us. Wish we could be there, too.
Merry Christmas.
Happy New Year.

The Big Idea... next Thursday.
Just writing to share some cool news from one of my clients, BlackjackHolder.com.
Because of their design award nomination, Chris McCorkle (Owner / Inventor of the BlackJackHolder) is going to be on CNBC's The Big Idea w/Donny Deutsch next Thursday, 12/27 at 8 p.m. Central Time.
They've already taped the interview. Chris McCorkle says they conducted it via webcam earlier this week. Wild. And, he says that BlackJackHolder.com will be displayed in the lower 3rd of the screen during the entire interview. Nice.
Watch if you can.
I'm hoping for some great exposure for him.
Go BlackjackHolder!

Lobo needs a Christmas Home
UPDATE - 6:47 p.m.: Sounds like Lobo may have a home with a fellow dog lover. He is going to meet his potential new family tonight. Wish him luck!!! I'll keep you posted on how it goes.
Hey blog peeps.
My Lovely Daughter recently brought home a 94 pound Husky Malamute. We've had him for about 3 months now and it's become painfully obvious that he is just too much dog for us. We don't have a fenced in yard and he just isn't getting the exercise he needs.
I hired Dean Miller (thedogcounselor.com) to come and work with him. This dog is Very smart and needs a strong alpha leader. I just don't have the time to spend with him. He is happiest when he is with someone, he makes a great companion.
He loves to ride in the car and I've been taking him to work with me. He is very well behaved when he is given adequate space to run and exercise. I just can't provide that for him.
The vet estimates that he is 1 1/2 years old, so he is still very much a puppy. I've just had him neutered and he has all his shots.
We are absolutely in love with this dog and want to do what's best for him so please don't reply unless you have the time and space for him. We want to be sure that he goes to someone that will take good care of him for the rest of his life.
His name is Lobo.
Thanks so much,
Virginia

We're parents!
UPDATE - 12 22 07: His official name is now Tank. We loved Rufus... but he's just such a little tank. So... Tank it is!
UPDATE - 12 17 07: We're thinking of changing Thunder's name to "Rufus" or "Roofus", heh. Or, maybe, Rufus Thunder Richardson? What do you think?
Meet Thunder, a 7-week-old Rott / Shep mix puppy who found his way into our hearts and our home today.
For Christmas, John and I were considering getting a puppy / dog as our present. We've been wanting a dog for some time now. So, we've been visiting the Nashville Humane Society every weekend for about seven weeks. We've walked and gotten to know some cool dogs and puppies... but until today, none of them have been "it".
Then, by chance, we were running some errands before Clocky had to leave for a gig set-up / rehearsal. We saw the "Teddy" mobile in the parking lot at 100 Oaks and decided to stop in.
Sure enough, there he was: Thunder. We played with him a bit and pretty much knew on the spot. But, for so long, we thought we wanted a dark colored / black dog, so when they told us Thunder had a couple brothers who were black, we decided to check them out, just to be sure. We thought a drive to the Humane Society might help us from being impulsive, too. So, we left the Teddy mobile and drove to the Humane Society to see the other puppies.
Well... while they were cute and fun and spunky (about 12 other puppies), none of them were Thunder. He was definitely it if we were going to go for it.
So, we got back in the car and began driving back to 100 Oaks. Thunder was it. We knew it. But, should we do it?
After much discussion, we decided to go for it. We've got time to add a fence or a kennel to our yard before Spring. And, we have a crate to keep him in at home and on our travels to Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa over the holidays.
Now that he's here in our house, it's wild to think that we actually did it! But, he's so adorable and, at this point, his temprament seems to suit us well.
So far, the cats are just wandering near the crate and sniffing. They aren't too sure about this thing in the living room, yet. Since it isn't another cat, I'm hoping the adjustment will go well. Wish us luck with that! Heh.
(PS: If you're reading this today, and you're looking for a Christmas puppy... get over to the Humane Society today... I don't think any of Thunder's siblings will be there long. PLUS, they have some amazing dogs that would be perfect to give a Christmas home. If it weren't for the cats, we'd probably have adopted a full-size dog.)

What I bought with my cabedge lettuce.
UPDATE - 12/17/07:
Good news -- I already received my cool leather laptop cover via USPS.
Bad news -- it doesn't fit my laptop. It is just about 1/8 inch to big for my 15" MacBook Pro. So... If you were thinking of getting one... DON'T. It won't fit. I'm sending it back and am hoping I get a refund instead of store credit. *fingers crossed*
Received a Amazon gift certificate from the head of cabedge for Christmas... er... um... the holidays (must be PC since it was a work gift).
As I thought about how I would spend my cabedge lettuce, it occured to me that I've wanted to get a hard case to protect my cabedge mac for a some time now. (Figure it's the least I can do since I have such a cool computer to use for work and for me. Thanks Chris!)
And... wouldn't you know it... Amazon sells protective but stylish computer shells!
I perused all kinds of protective cases... red, furry, clear, plastic, leather, deco-looking... I was truly amazed at the options.
After about 30 minutes of comparing my favs, I decided to use my cabedge lettuce on a U-Suit Leather Cover Case. It was a tough call between that and a red Speck hard case.
Ultimately, I landed on the leather because:
Thank you, cabedge.
Merry Christmas to me!

Ultimately, I landed on the leather because:
- I hadn't seen that before... and I like being different;
- Plastic always looks good when you first get it, but ultimately it starts looking faded and scratched pretty quickly;
- I thought I should get something I wanted but might not buy for myself if it weren't a gift.
- Oh yeah... when I took a poll with Clocky and Charles... they both thought the black leather was cooler and more unique. SOLD.
Thank you, cabedge.
Merry Christmas to me!

Free Rice
This is perhaps one of the most innocuously sticky sites I've seen in a long time: FreeRice.com
PLUS... it seems you help people by using it. I've already donated 540 grains of rice through the UN! Not sure how that works, but I'm sure if I hadn't gotten stuck playing the game I'd know the answer.
Hard to believe the head of cabedge (Chris) forwarded this insidious time-waster.
Heh... ahhh heck... it's for a good cause.
Go ahead... Play a while.
*wink*

Stevie Wonder... of love.
If you weren't at the Stevie Wonder concert last night... well... you missed it.
Stevie does things with music that most musicians these days can't do without a computer. It's all in his head and his fingers. AND... he's got a positive spirit that is even more pervasive in concert.
His message: Love Everybody Unconditionally
John, Charles and I left inspired to be better people and musicians.
Wish I had a USB port on my head so I could share it all with you.

makin' cookies
Spent a little time on Saturday making some cookies... Gingersnaps & Peanut Butter cookies to be exact. Used my Grandma's recipes and tried to channel her baking mastery. Seems to have worked!
Gingersnaps:
Front of the recipe my Grandma used (originally from her friend Sophia Lockwood).
Back of recipe.
Gingersnap dough rolled into 1 inch balls... now ready to be rolled in sugar.
Sugar coated dough balls... ready for the oven to turn them into perfectly cracked gingersnaps.
Oh yes... they have signature ginger-cracks with a snap. No soft gingerSNAPs allowed in my kitchen. They are the perfect coffee dunkin' goodness. Grandma would have served them!
Peanut Butter Cookies:
Grandma's recipe for Peanut Butter Cookies... with an optional handwritten addition placed there by my 11-year-old hand. Heh.
1-inch pb-doughballs... ready to be sugared up.
Sugared... forked... ready to become flaky, melt-in-your-mouth peanut butter cookies.
Perfectiones. And... they melted on my toungue. Good Grandma mojo.
