Wilson Pickett passed away yesterday. He was only 64. You know him best for his songs "Midnight Hour," "Mustang Sally," "Land of 1,000 Dances" and "Funky Broadway." (Can't tell you how many times I've sung these songs.)
A 60s R&B legend and member of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, he experienced a resurgence in popularity when the movie "The Commitments" came out in the early 90s. He was always on tour until health problems caused him to slow down last year. He's someone JTC and I always wanted to see but never got the chance.
Rest in peace, funky man.
Thank you for sharing your spirit in your songs.
