Turn signal delinquency...

Beginning of rant.

I'm SICK and TIRED of people in Nashville not using their turn signals. It's bad enough when people who are driving predictably don't use them. But, what is worse is when drivers who are weaving in and out of traffic at high rates of speed refuse to communicate with you.

Yesterday, it was a Ford pick-up. Linda and I were on the way to lunch. She saw him coming up fast in the lane beside us and gasped cause she thought he was going to rear-end the Jeep next to us. Then, at the last second he swerved in front / between us and the Jeep (no signal of course). There was barely enough room. If Linda hadn't warned me, we may have rearended the guy. And, he had no clue.

This morning, this woman in a red Accord hung with me almost all the way to work. First she pulled the same thing as the Ford truck did yesterday. Then I watched her continue to cut in front of drivers, going too fast (didn't use her blinker once). Other people were slowing down and veering away from her. I thought for sure she was going to cause an accident.

What is so hard about using your blinkers!? This is what I want to know. Is it because people are fearful of developing "turn signal carpal tunnel?" Is it because they just don't have time to move the lever? I mean... it does require a lot of effort I know. Do they think the pretty blinking lights are just decoration?

WHAT?! WHY?! I want to know.

Blinkers are COMMUNICATION TOOLS so that other drivers KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO DO. I really don't want to have an accident and I'm sure you don't either. So, if you don't use them, please start. The car you save may be your own.

End of rant.

Woo hoo! Glad I stumbled across your blog today. I'm also a disenfranchised Nashville blogger. AMEN to lousy drivers in this crazy town.

i think turn signals come "optional" on some cars! i had the same thing happen to me yesterday with a construction dumptruck that decided to make a right turn from the left lane. about got me killed. be careful going home in this rain, girl. :)
